Consistent high quality
- Lap of Luxury Lap Desks are hand made in
Eugene, Oregon. I support
reuse and recycle philosophies and so use recycled foam that is
shredded for the stuffing. I use recycled fabrics at times for the lap
desks that I make for local fairs.
- Construction
is a 16-step process from marking the fabric through nailing on the
pencil ledge. Three saws, a router, lots of sandpaper, a nail gun, a
sewing machine, some putty, a jig or two et voila! It’s a Lap Desk!
- Most of the high quality cotton fabrics on the
website are from Kona
Bay Fabrics in Honolulu, Hawaii. Other fabrics are available! I can
send you pictures or call me to have them described.
- The desk is made of 1/2 lightweight plywood
with a maple, birch, oak or cherry surface, depending on availability.
- The soft cushion is made of high quality cotton
fabric over 5 inches
(large) or 3 inches (small) of real shredded foam (no Styrofoam or
polyfil) for a long life. If the pillow flattens, just poke it with
your fingers to fluff it back up and it will regain its former shape.
- The cushion is firmly attached
to the bottom with a wooden frame. The cushion will conform to your
legs in whatever seating position that you choose.
- The wooden pencil ledge in front keeps your
plate, book, pen or papers from landing in your lap.
